Find Your Jawline
With Minimal Downtime
What Is Chin Liposuction?
Chin liposuction is a procedure for both men and women that uses a small tube to remove pockets of fat from under your chin and along your neck through 2 or 3 small incisions.
By removing these pockets of fat we are able to allow your jawline to shine through removing your double chin which can give you a slimmer appearance overall.
This procedure can be done under local anesthesia in the office or under general anesthesia in the operating room.
Chin Liposuction is a great procedure for people who are in good health and have an area of fat under their chin and along the sides of their necks that hides their jawline.
These areas of fat may not respond to diet and exercise and thus chin liposuction is a great way to further contour the jawline.
Your loose skin may require a skin tightening procedure along with liposuction, a My Ellevate procedure or possibly even a neck lift.
Other reasons you may not be a candidate for chin liposuction
Patients with bleeding disorders
Patients with significant heart and lung disorders
Patients with other disorders that prevent wound healing
Chin Liposuction is not a method of weight loss
If you are thinking about chin liposuction and have loose skin under your chin and neck you may not be a candidate for chin liposuction alone.
How Is Chin Liposuction Done?
Awake Chin Liposuction
For the right candidates patients can have their chin liposuction performed in the office under local anesthetic
The procedure is performed through 2 or 3 small incisions that allow Dr. Pearce access to the areas that need to be treated.
The area is first infiltrated with tumescent fluid that has local anesthetic in it to help numb the area.
The fluid is then allowed to sit for 15 to 20 minutes and then Dr. Pearce will check to make sure the area is numb.
Once numb Dr. Pearce will use a small hollow tube to glide through the fat pockets, break them up and then remove them under suction.
Patients who are not candidates for awake in office chin liposuction or those that are undergoing other procedures along with chin liposuction might be better served with having this procedure under general anesthesia. Dr. Pearce will discuss this possibility with you during your consultation.

What is recovery like?
After your procedure Dr. Pearce will place you in a supportive garment that you will wear night and day for 3 to 4 days, then at night for the next 10 days.
The garment will help compress the skin and help to minimize bruising as well as aid in a faster recovery after your procedure.
You will have some discomfort after your procedure but it should be controlled or relieved by the pain medication prescribed by Dr. Pearce.
You can expect some swelling under the chin after chin liposuction but this will begin to dissipate after day 4.
You will be ready to return back to work after a few days when you are no longer taking pain narcotics.
Dr Pearce asks that everyone refrain from their exercise routines or strenuous activities for 3 weeks after chin liposuction.
When will I begin to see my results? Full results from this procedure take about 6 months to shine through fully but most patients will begin to see their results several weeks after.
